Dylan underwent Tommy John surgery along the line in his career. He later resumed and pitched for the Arizona Cubs of the Rookie-level Arizona League.
In 2015, Dylan was rated as the second-best prospect in the Arizona League by Baseball America.
He spent the following season with the Eugene Emeralds of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League.
While he was with the Emeralds, he recorded a 2–0 win–loss with a 2.22 earned run average and 66 strikeouts in 44+2⁄3 innings pitched.
Dylan is the first pitcher in the history of the White Sox to win two awards in two months back to back.
