Where did Phyllida Barlow live?

Barlow lived in London.

Although she was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, in 1944 (as her psychiatrist father Erasmus Darwin Barlow, a great-grandson of Charles Darwin, was stationed there at the time), Barlow was brought up in a London, which at the time, was recovering from the Second World War.

Inspired by the early 1960s New Generation Sculpture exhibits at London’s Whitechapel Gallery, Barlow began experimenting with the sculptural possibilities of materials unassociated with classical sculpture, such as fiberglass, resin, cloth, and paint, early in her career.
