When did Dan Harmon leave Rick and Morty?

Dan Harmon, the co-creator of the popular animated television series “Rick and Morty,” has not left the show in May 2018.

During Harmon’s year-long hiatus from Community, he and co-showrunner Justin Roiland began brainstorming ideas for an animated show.

Adult Swim ordered a 30-minute animated pilot from Harmon and Roiland for its fall 2012 season. Rick and Morty follow the exploits of a brilliant but mean-spirited inventor and his less-than-genius grandson.

The show debuted on December 2, 2013, and has since been renewed for a second and third season. The fourth season of the series concluded in May 2020.

Rick and Morty were renewed for an additional 70 episodes in May 2018 after Harmon and Roiland reached an agreement with Adult Swim.

Dan Harmon is responsible for writing many of the episodes and providing the voice for several characters.

He also serves as the show’s main showrunner, overseeing the writing and production of the episodes.
