Former artistic gymnast turned singer-songwriter Carly Rae Patterson hails from the United States. She is a member of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame and the first American all-around champion at an Olympics that wasn’t boycotted. She won the all-around title at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

After going to a cousin’s birthday celebration at the Elite Gymnastics gym in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1994, Patterson decided to take up gymnastics.

On August 23, 2004, Patterson participated in the balance beam competition final. She finished second to Cătălina Ponor of Romania with a score of 9.775 and won the silver medal.

She appeared on the television program Hollywood at Home in December 2011 following the Olympics. As the spokesperson for the Taylor’s Gift Foundation’s 2012 organ donation challenge, Patterson partnered with the organization.

Carly began gymnastics in 1994, after attending a cousin’s birthday party at Elite Gymnastics in Baton Rouge.

Less than a decade later, she made her debut at the senior international elite level, winning back-to-back American Cup titles in 2003 and 2004, as well as the title of 2004 US Co-National Champion.
