American singer, Michael Grimm won the America’s Got Talent season 5. His prize for winning the competition included $1 million (before taxes and reduction for lump sum payment) and the opportunity to headline the AGT Tour Show, including one show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on October 8, 2010.

He auditioned for the show in Los Angeles – with the show airing on June 1, 2010. He got praise from all three judges and advanced to the second stage of Vegas Week. During the ‘Vegas Week,’ his performance of Try a Little Tenderness was criticized by Piers Morgan for being way over 90 seconds and could have gotten him disqualified. However, he still advanced to the quarterfinals.

Grimm performed Tired of Being Alone at the quarterfinals stage and received praise and support once again to advance to the semifinals. During the semifinal performance, he performed You Can Leave Your Heart On.
He managed to perform in the top 10 without a guitar with the song Let’s Stay Together, and advanced to the top 4. In the finale on September 4, 2010, he performed When A Man Loves a Woman. He was announced the winner on September 5, 2010.
