What word did Jerry Jones apologize for using?

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones apologised for a height-related slur he used to describe small people while paying tribute to a team executive who died recently.

Larry Lacewell was a Cowboys scouting director, who died in May 2022 after being a key figure in Dallas’ run to three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s.

During his speech, Jerry Jones said: “Lace held court out here,” “I’m going to get me somebody, a m—–, to stand up there with me and dress him up like Lace and think Lace is still out here helping us

Jones used the m-word to describe Larry Lacewell, who was short. Little People of America refers to the m-word as an insult to short people.

Jones was probably unaware that the word was offensive, but when he was made aware of it, he apologised.

In a statement released on Tuesday, July 26 evening Jones said: “Earlier today I made a reference which I understand may have been viewed as offensive, I apologize.”
