On the eve of what was supposed to be a comeback for the musical duo Milli Vanilli, tragedy struck as Robert Pilatus, one half of the famous pair, was found dead on April 3, 1998.

Pilatus, a German singer, dancer, model, and rapper, met his untimely demise in a hotel room at Friedrichsdorf, near Frankfurt.
The cause of Robert Pilatus’s death was determined to be an overdose, resulting from a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs.
His passing was officially ruled as accidental. This unfortunate event occurred just before the scheduled promotional tour for a new Milli Vanilli album titled “Back and in Attack,” which featured Pilatus and his musical partner Fab Morvan taking on lead vocals.

The album, unfortunately, never saw the light of day, leaving fans without the anticipated comeback from the duo. Pilatus’s death marked the end of an era for Milli Vanilli, known for their chart-topping hits and the subsequent revelation that their early successes had involved lip-syncing by other vocalists.
In tribute to Robert Pilatus, he was laid to rest at the Munich Waldfriedhof.
