Parkinson transitioned to television in the 1960s, producing news programs for the BBC and Manchester-based Granada Television. From March 1966 to January 1968, he worked as a reporter and presenter for BBC1’s Twenty-Four Hours, a five-times-weekly daily news magazine program.
