He is widely regarded as the father of the early rock ‘n’ roll movement. He starred in many films during the 1950s, including 1956’s “Don’t Knock the Rock,” 1957’s “The Girl Can’t Help It,” and 1957’s “Mister Rock.”

Little Richard abandoned rock music in the second half of the decade to concentrate completely on gospel songs, releasing his religious first album, “God Is Real,” in 1959. He returned to rock ‘n’ roll five years later.

In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.In 1990, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 1993, he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
