Jim Brown was arrested in his hotel room in 1965 for assault and battery on an 18-year-old named Brenda Ayres; he was later acquitted of those charges.

Brown was charged with assault with intent to murder in 1968 after model Eva Bohn-Chin was discovered beneath the balcony of Brown’s second-floor apartment. The charges were later dropped after Bohn-Chin refused to cooperate with the prosecutor’s office.

Jim Brown was acquitted of assault and battery charges in 1970, stemming from a road rage incident in 1969. Brown was convicted of misdemeanour battery in 1975 after beating and choking his golfing partner, Frank Snow. He was sentenced to one day in jail, two years of probation, and a $500 fine.

Brown was charged with raping a 33-year-old woman in 1985. The charges were eventually dropped. Brown was arrested in 1986 for assaulting his fiancée Debra Clark. Clark, on the other hand, refused to press charges, and Brown was released.

Brown was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats against his wife in 1999. He was found guilty of vandalism later that year after smashing his wife’s car with a shovel. He received three years of probation, one year of domestic violence counselling, 400 hours of community service or 40 hours on a work crew and a $1,800 fine.

Jim Brown disobeyed the terms of his sentence and was sentenced to six months in prison in 2000, which he began serving in 2002 after refusing to participate in court-ordered counselling and community service. He was released three months later. Brown died on May 18, 2023, at his Los Angeles home.
