The injury on Carrie Underwood’s face was caused by a fall. Underwood slipped on the steps outside her Nashville house while putting her dogs out on Nov. 10, 2017, just days after presenting the CMA Awards, and suffered “many injuries.” The singer had 40-50 stitches on her face and surgery on her broken wrist as a result of the accident.

Since then, Underwood has spoken out about the incident, telling Redbook that many people have speculated that her accident was a pretext for her receiving plastic surgery.
Underwood has gradually opened up about her injuries, telling fans how they affected her confidence at first. She claims she overcame it by reminding herself that feeling insecure is “simply part of being human” at times.
