Peter McNab was a Canadian-born American professional ice hockey player. McNab was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. However, the type of Cancer was not revealed.

“Like so many others who have received news of this nature, this is a very personal battle,” McNab said. “I’m fortunate that I received an early diagnosis and have great medical care. I will return on-air in the coming days while undergoing treatment.
“Over the next several weeks, I may need to miss a few games, but I look forward to covering the Colorado Avalanche through another exciting season.”

Throughout his chemotherapy, he continued to work as an Avalanche colour analyst. In February 2022, doctors informed McNab that his cancer was in remission.
Peter McNab died on November 6, 2022, at the age of 70. McNab was a forward for the Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, and New Jersey Devils for 14 seasons (1973-87), scoring 813 points in 955 regular-season games and 82 points in 107 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
He began his broadcasting career with the Devils in 1987-88 and worked as an analyst for the Olympics in 1998 Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City, and 2006 Turin.
