“It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our colleague, teammate and friend, who left us far too soon,” CF Montréal president Gabriel Gervais said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
Prior to his death, Di Tullio battled brain cancer for more than a year. In June 2021, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive type of cancer that can occur in the brain or spinal cord.

Glioblastoma is formed from cells called astrocytes that support nerve cells, can occur at any age, but tends to occur more often in older adults.
Its symptoms include headache, nausea, drowsiness, blurred vision, personality changes and seizures and its treatments include radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.
It should be noted that though treatment can help, glioblastoma cannot be cured.
It is estimated that more than 10,000 individuals in the United States will succumb to glioblastoma every year.
The five-year survival rate for glioblastoma patients is only 6.8 percent, and the average length of survival for glioblastoma patients is estimated to be only 8 months.
