American racing driver, Josef Newgarden is currently with Team Penske, he has been with them for seven years. The team is owned by Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar Series owner, Roger Penske.

Still with the team, he has finally won his first Indy 500 after over a decade of struggling to achieve the milestone. He is the first American to win Indy since Alexander Ross in 2016.

“I’m just so thankful to be here. I started out as a fan in the crowd, and this place is amazing, regardless of where you’re sitting. Everyone kept asking why I hadn’t won this race, and they look at you like you’re a failure if you haven’t won it. I knew I was capable. I knew I could,” he said after his amazing victory on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Newgarden is also the 2017 and 2019 IndyCar Series Champion. He won the season at the 2015 Honda Indy Toronto. At the 2016 Firest0ne 600 at Texas Motor Speedway, Newgarden was injured in a crash, breaking his hand and clavicle. He returned to the car two weeks later and finished in the top 10 spot at the 2016 Kohler Grand Prix at Road America.
