What radio station did Mark Pilgrim work for?

South African media personality, Mark Pilgrim was known to be a radio and television host but most people knew him for his work on radio. He worked as a DJ on 5FM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, 94.5 Kfm, Hot919, and Hot102.7fm.

He started his radio career on Voice of Wits campus radio in the 1980s. In 1995, he joined 5FM and left in 2003 to join 94.7 Highveld Stereo in Johannesburg. He hosted a chart show broadcast on two radio stations simultaneously – KFM and 94.7 in October 2007. He announced his retirement from radio in 2014, however, he made a comeback after a few months as the host of the all new Hot 91.9FM in Johannesburg, where he hosted the morning show from 9 am to 12 noon.

He was announced dead after a long battle with cancer on March 5, 2023.

Tributes poured in from his colleagues in the industry.

Very sad news of the passing of legendary broadcaster Mark Pilgrim. He fought a tough fight and inspired many in the process and during his many years on radio,” Gareth Cliff tweeted.

My heart is shattered. Mark Pilgrim has just passed away. My friend, you fought so hard,” Radio host, Brent Lindeque wrote.

RIP Mark Pilgrim, You, Sir *lived through illness* till the end. A great creative and audio legend. Condolences to friends, family, and colleagues,” Eusebius McKaiser tweeted.
