Meninga is of South Sea Islander and Indigenous Australian heritage.
The former rugby league team captain is widely regarded as one of the greatest rugby league players of all time.
During his playing career, Meninga played for many teams as a centre and fullback, including the Canberra Raiders, where he won three premierships.

Meninga later retired and began his coaching career. He coached the Canberra Raiders, leading them to two NRL premiership titles; and the Australian Kangaroos, leading them to winning Rugby League World Cup three times.
He has also coached the Prime Minister’s XIII, Queensland, Papua New Guinea, and World All Stars.
Outside of rugby, Meninga is an advocate in cultural affairs, promoting Indigenous issues and reconciliation in Australia.
