Espargaró was born in the Spanish city of Granollers. Espargaró made his debut in the 2014 MotoGP season, finishing seventh overall with Forward Yamaha, with the highlight being a second-place result in Aragon.
Espargaró signed a contract extension with the squad for 2023 and 2024 on May 26, 2022, continuing to work with Maverick Viales.
