American actor, Richard Dreyfuss has played several roles in numerous movies over the years of his career. The actor has also won several awards including an Academy Award. Some of these movies include Close Encounters of the Third Kind, American Graffiti, What About Bob?, The Goodbye Girl, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Stand By Me, Jaws, Always, The Last Laugh, Book Club, Stakeout, and more.

Born on October 29, 1947, Richard Dreyfuss began his career in his youth under her drama teacher Bill Miller at Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills Arts Center and Westside Jewish Community Center.

Some of his early movies and tv shows include Peyton Place, Gidget, That Girl, Gunsmoke, Bewitched, The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, and The Big Valley. He also appeared in the play The Time of Your Life in 1972.

He also made appearances in The Graduate, Valley of the Dolls, Dillinger, American Graffiti, and The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz. Dreyfuss also starred in the box-office movies Jaws and Close Encounters of The Third Kind, The Goodbye Girl, and more.

Dreyfuss became a drug addict in 1978 when he started taking cocaine frequently. He was addicted for four years and was even arrested for possession of cocaine when he blacked out while driving his Mercedes-Benz 450 SL.

He came back into acting after rehabilitation and starred in the movie Down And Out in Beverly Hills in 1986. He also starred in The Body, Buddy System, Moon Over Parador, and more.

In 1996, he was inducted as a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Some of his later works in acting include Lincoln’s Greatest Speech, Shots Fired, The Last Laugh, and more.
