What movies did Cormac McCarthy write?

American writer, Cormac McCarthy who gained popularity for being one of the greatest contemporary authors, also wrote a few movies before his passing. His book No Country for the Old Men (2005) and The Road (2007). While the 2005 book did not make as much impact in the ‘book’ world as The Road, it was adapted into a film in 2007 and became a massive success, winning four Academy Awards including Best Picture.

No Country for the Old Men as a movie was adapted by the Coen Brothers, and even after winning numerous Oscars, it also won over 70 film awards globally from 2007 to 2008.

Some of the other movies he was created for also include The Road, The Counselor, All the Pretty Horses, Child of God, The Gardener’s Son, and Outer Dark. 

McCarthy’s debut novel dubbed The Orchard Keeper, was published in 1965. He traveled to Southern Europe, where he penned his second novel titled Outer Dark in 1968, and released his third novel 11 years later – Suttree.
