Aside from being a talented singer, Astrud Gilberto also got a few movie roles during the peak of her career in the 1960s. She appeared in a few movies including Get Yourself a College Girl and The Hanged Man.

She was reported dead by close sources. It was shared that her death occurred on Monday, June 5, 2023, however, no cause of death was disclosed. She was 83.

Born on March 29, 1940, Astrud Gilberto became friends with singer, Nara Leao in the late ’50s, and through her, she started meeting several established musicians and up-and-coming ones.
Astrud got her breakthrough in 1964 after the release of the single The Girl from Ipanema, which omitted the Portuguese lyrics sung by Joao Gilberto and established Astrud as a Bossa Nova Singer.
