What is Tracey Freeman’s disability?

Australian paralympian Tracey Freeman, who competed in two Paralympic games and won ten medals, was born on 10 January 1948 and died on 4 October 2023. In her first national competition, Freeman won every event she competed in at the National Wheelchair Games in Sydney. In addition, she won a gold medal in table tennis and set new Australian records in the discus, javelin, shot throw, and 60-meter sprint.

She was therefore chosen to compete for Australia at the 1972 Paralympics in Heidelberg, where she took home three gold medals and set world records in the women’s discus 1B, women’s javelin 1B, and women’s shot put 1B events, as well as two silver medals in the women’s 60-meter wheelchair 1B and women’s slalom 1B events.

What is Tracey Freeman’s disability?

Freeman was born in 1948 and lived in Mount Isa, Queensland, where he contracted polio at the age of two in 1951, leaving him a quadriplegic. Prior to moving to the Mt. Wilga Rehabilitation Center at the age of 15, she resided at the Crippled Children’s Centre in the Sydney district of Redfern.
