What is the name of the Fruit Stripe Gum Zebra?

Fruit Stripe has been inviting you to unwrap the colorful world of fun and fruity since the swinging ’60s. Each stick of brightly flavored gum is striped just like Yipes the Zebra mascot and comes with a fun temporary tattoo of Yipes in action.

The iconic striped chewing gum — long associated with its adorable mascot Yipes the Zebra, who was featured on the packaging — first hit stores more than 50 years ago. Bad news for anyone nostalgic for childhood favorite Fruit Stripe Gum: Ferrara Candy confirmed to ABC News this week that its iconic, decades-old fruit-flavored chewing gum will be discontinued.

The gum was first launched by bygone candy maker Beech-Nut in 1969, but ended up at Ferrara following a series of corporate handoffs and mergers. Ferrara itself is a unit of the Italian conglomerate Ferrero.
