According to Numbeo, Busan has a crime index of 22.65 and a safety index of 77.35 out of 100. This means that Busan is generally considered a safe city, with low levels of crime such as robbery, burglary, assault, and corruption. However, this does not mean that Busan is free of crime or that there are no areas to avoid.

One of the most dangerous districts in Busan is Jung-gu, which is located in the central part of the city. Jung-gu has a violent crime rate of 408.9 cases per 100,000 people, which is the highest among all 17 regions in South Korea.

Jung-gu is also home to many bars, clubs, and entertainment venues, which can attract troublemakers and criminals. Therefore, it is advisable to be careful when walking around Jung-gu at night or when visiting unfamiliar places.

On the other hand, some of the safest districts in Busan are Yeongdo-gu and Saha-gu, which are very close to Jung-gu but have much lower crime rates. Yeongdo-gu and Saha-gu have only about 100 cases of violent crime per 100,000 people.

These districts are more residential and less crowded than Jung-gu, which may explain why they are safer. Yeongdo-gu is also known for its scenic views of the sea and the harbor, while Saha-gu is famous for its Gamcheon Culture Village, a colorful and artistic neighborhood.
