Real Madrid may be the most successful club in football history, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been beaten by an unprepared opponent. Despite winning the European Cup a record 13 times and 34 Spanish league titles, the capital club has also had a string of poor seasons and results.

Barcelona has long been one of the game’s most powerful forces, and they are more used to unleashing crushing defeats than receiving them.

Barcelona’s worst defeat came in the 1930/31 season when they lost a Primera Division match 12-1 to Athletic Club. This is still the biggest margin of victory in La Liga history.

They lost an 11-1 game to Sevilla ten years later, the only other time they have conceded double figures in a single game.
