Sylvia Fowles Basketball Career

Sylvia Fowles had a successful career in basketball beginning from her days in Edison Senior High School, Gulliver Preparatory School, and Louisiana State University (LSU).

During her time in the WNBA, Fowles won the WNBA MVP Award twice, the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award four times, two WNBA Championships, the MVP of the WNBA Finals twice and was an eight-time WNBA All-Star.

Fowles was drafted by the Chicago Sky in the 2008 WNBA draft, and went on to play for Galatasaray Medical Park, Shanghai Swordfish, Canik Belediyesi, Beijing Great Wall, and Minnesota Lynx, where she played for seven seasons until retirement.

In 2021, she was listed amongst the top 25 WNBA players of all time.

Fowles retired from the game in 2022, and took to mortuary science, and dealing with embalming, cremation, and funeral directing.

Fowles also functions as a PR person for the Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE).

She is the founder of the Sylvia Fowles Family Fund to assist indigent children.
