In a surprising turn, Pollard participated in Pilgrimage: The Road Through Portugal in 2019, a BBC Two series documenting a celebrity pilgrimage to Fátima, Portugal. This revealed a lesser-known facet of the entertainer’s life, showing her in a more reflective and spiritual light.
Pollard’s breakthrough came with her role as chalet maid Peggy Ollerenshaw in the BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi! which ran until 1988. Amidst her successful acting career, she achieved musical success, hitting No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart in 1986 with the song “Starting Together,” the theme for the BBC Television series The Marriage.
