What is so great about Del Taco?

Del Taco is an American fast-food restaurant that is known for serving customers American-style Mexican cuisine as well as American foods such as burgers, fries, and shakes. Del Taco is led by CEO John D. Cappasola, Jr., and is headquartered in Lake Forest Califonia.

The first Del Taco restaurant was opened by Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson in Yermo, California on September 16, 1964, under the name “Casa Del Taco.”

On the first day of business, Del Taco made $169. The success of the first restaurant led to two others in Bostow, one in Needles, and a fifth restaurant in Corona.

Dick Naugle, who installed the kitchen equipment in the Corona store, was impressed by the design and joined Hackbarth and Jameson in the fledgling business.

In 1966, the trio founded Red-E-Food Systems, Inc., with the idea of franchising the Del Taco brand. That same year, the original Del Taco sun logo was created.

Del Taco will have more than 2,800 locations across 25 states. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.

What Is So Great About Del Taco?

Aside from great value, one of the things that makes Del Taco stand out is the quality of its food. The chain is dedicated to serving good food made with fresh ingredients. In June 2018, the chain introduced an entire menu refresh, putting an emphasis on fresh food.

They are really proud of this fact, and they know it’s something that makes them different. In 2017, John Cappasola, who was then the president and CEO of Del Taco, told CNBC, “This is actually a structural advantage for us, the fact that we do it fresh in our restaurants.”

He explained that employees are the ones who do the cutting and grilling because they know that’s what delivers the best food experience.
