American conservative politician Mike Pence had condemned former president Donald Trump for the actions taken during the capitol riot that occurred on January 6, 2021.

“Look, President Trump was wrong. He was wrong then. He’s wrong now. I had no right to overturn the election. And, more and more, Americans are coming up to me every day and recognizing that,” Pence had said during an interview on CBS.

“I’m running for president in part because, frankly, President Trump asked me to put him over the Constitution that day, but I chose the Constitution — and I always will”, he added

Mike Pence is a trained lawyer who previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013, representing Indiana’s 2nd and 6th congressional districts.

He additionally served as the Chairman of the House Republican Conference.

In 2017, Pence became the 48th Vice President of the United States under President Donald Trump, and served in that capacity until 2021,.
