Lorene Scafaria is an actress, screenwriter, and director from the United States. She wrote her first play in Red Bank, New Jersey, at the age of 17. She has a BA in English with a minor in theatre from Montclair State University.

Scafaria moved to New York City and wrote and performed in a play called That Guy and Others Like Him at the Producer’s Club Theatre.

She also appeared in the critically acclaimed short film Bullet in the Brain, which was produced by CJ Follini and received awards at nine festivals.

Focus Features hired Scafaria to adapt Rachel Cohn and David Levithan’s book Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist into a film.
