American actress, Candice Bergen is famous for playing the lead role in the popular ’80s to ’90s show Murphy Brown as Murphy Brown. She played the role of a recovering alcoholic woman who became a single mother and later battled breast cancer. The series provided Bergen the opportunity to show her comic side of acting, however, talked about important issues as well.

The show aired from 1988 to 1998. Bergen won five Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series out of seven nominations for her role as Murphy Brown from 1989 to 1995.
