Behati Prinsloo’s father was assigned to work in South Africa before she was born, but her family returned to Namibia when she was three years old.
Her family is Afrikaner, and she grew up speaking Afrikaans as her first language, though she was educated in English later in life.
Behati Prinsloo went to Grootfontein Secondary School and dropped out after Grade 9 to pursue a modeling career.

Prinsloo made her runway debut as a Prada/Miu Miu exclusive. Prinsloo has walked in Alexander Wang fashion shows.
Versace, Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Jil Sander, Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, Dior, Christian, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, Michael Kors, and Yves Saint Laurent are among the designers she has worked with.
Following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Prinsloo embarked on a charitable trip. She also helps organizations that work to protect the black rhinoceros, a critically endangered species native to Namibia and other Southern African countries.
