What is an interesting fact about Marcel Marceau?

Marcel Marceau was a French actor and mime artist best known for playing “Bip the Clown” on stage.

One interesting fact about Marceau is he was born into a Jewish family, and during WWII, he changed his surname to Marceau.  Later, he studied at the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre’s School of Dramatic Art and with pantomimist Étienne Decroux.

Another interesting fact about Marceau is that he was a passionate advocate for peace and social justice.

Throughout his life, he used his performances as a platform to raise awareness about issues such as war, poverty, and human rights.  He was a vocal critic of violence and discrimination and often spoke out against oppression and injustice.

Perhaps one of the most interesting facts about Marcel Marceau is that he was a survivor of the Holocaust.

As a Jewish youth, he lived in hiding and worked with the French Resistance for the majority of WWII, giving his first major performance to 3,000 troops after the liberation of Paris in August.
