What Illness Did Judith Durham Have?

Judith Durham AO was an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. Judith Durham suffered from Chronic lung disease which ultimately lead to her death.

Judith Durham passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the age of 79. She had been receiving palliative care at the Alfred Hospital before her death from disease complications.

Durham also suffered a stroke in May 2013, during the Seekers’ Golden Jubilee tour, which impaired her ability to read and write in both visual language and musical scores.

During her recovery, she worked on regaining those skills. The stroke did not affect her singing ability.

Judith Durham rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Seekers, an Australian popular folk music group, in 1963.

The group went on to become the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the UK and the US, selling over 50 million records worldwide.

Durham was named Victorian of the Year on July 1, 2015, for her contributions to music and a variety of charities.
