Popular American music band, The Carolina Chocolate Drops stopped performing regularly in 2014, afterwards, their members went their ways individually. The group was founded in 2005 in Durham, North Carolina, United States. It was made up of six members; Rhiannon Giddens, Hubby Jenkins, Leyla McCalla, Adam Matta, Dom Flemons, and Justin Robinson.

Jenkins left the band in 2016. Rhiannon Giddens also left and has released quite a good number of solo projects so far. She was also named the artistic director of the Silk Road Project.
