Young broke into the top 100 on the men’s tour for the first time in 2007, at the age of 18 years and 5 months. Young had a 17-match, six-month losing streak. He finished the year 5-24, his record collapsing to No. 190 after his highest ranking, No. 38, in 2012

Young felt abandoned by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), which overlooked him while distributing wild cards for the US Open in 2020.
