What happened to Ted Kaczynski?

Ted Kaczynski was found dead on the morning of June 10, 2023. He was 81 years old. According to sources, he was suffering from declining health which got him transferred to the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina.

Responding staff immediately initiated life-saving measures. Mr. Kaczynski was transported by EMS to a local hospital and subsequently pronounced deceased by hospital personnel,” the authorities shared.

He conducted his first attacks in the late ’70s. It targeted Northwestern University in Illinois. The two bombings occurred on May 25, 1978, and May 9, 1979, and left two people injured. In November 1979, an altitude-triggered bomb he mailed went off aboard an American Airlines Flight. Twelve people suffered from smoke inhalation.

His crimes came to light after it was uncovered that he forced Washington Post and the New York Times to push his violent manifesto dubbed Industrial Society and Its Future in September 1995.

Kaczynski was sentenced to life in 1996 without parole after evading capture for almost 20 years. His brother, David received a $1 million reward from the FBI for assisting with his capture in 1996. The reward was funded by a Congressional appropriation for the Justice Department.
