In a 2021 interview with Vice, Rogow disclosed an unexpected source of inspiration for “Lizzie McGuire.” He shared, “One day, I ended up watching a German movie called ‘Run Lola Run,’ and it blew me away.” This unconventional film sparked the creative direction for “Lizzie McGuire,” characterized by aggressive cutting and the inclusion of random digital stills wherever deemed amusing. According to Rogow, the guiding principle was simple: “If it’s funny, we’d get to do it.”

Rogow made significant contributions to children’s television, serving as an executive producer for “The Clan of the Cave Bear” on Discovery Kids in 2004. He also co-created the series “Flight 29 Down” for the same network in 2005.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, in November 1948, Rogow graduated from the Boston University School of Law. Initially practicing law in the city, he transitioned to television production and joined the CBS TV movie “Playing for Time” as a producer.

The movie, based on Fania Fénelon’s autobiography “The Musicians of Auschwitz,” featured Vanessa Redgrave in a casting that stirred controversy due to her anti-Zionist statements at the Academy Awards in 1978. Rogow, speaking to Luke Ford, defended Redgrave, stating, “She’s an actor, who cares about her politics. At the end of the day, she certainly isn’t antisemitic.”

Following the completion of the telefilm, Rogow relocated to Los Angeles and embarked on his work on “Fame” for NBC.

Survived by his son Jackson, grandson Vega, and sister Marian, the news of Rogow’s death was first reported by Variety.
