Selena met Saldvar, a fan-turned-employee who was the manager of her boutiques and the president of her fan club, in 1995. Saldvar was supposed to give Selena the last remaining business documents when they met at a Days Inn in Corpus Christi, Texas. Instead, she fatally shot the star.
Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father, sued Perez over a TV deal based on Perez’s memoir, “To Selena, With Love.” Quintanilla claimed that the series would violate an agreement Perez signed after Selena’s death, which gave Quintanilla control over Selena’s image and likeness.
