Who Is Sam Martin?

Sam Martin is a football punter for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL).

Born on February 27, 1990, in Georgia, United States, Martin attended Starr’s Mill High School, where he received an all-state recognition in his junior season.

He proceeded to play college football at Appalachian State, where he made the All-America First team in his senior season.

In 2013, Martin was selected by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.

In his first week with the Lions, he recorded four punts totaling 181 yards and only three punt return yards.

Also in 2013, Sam’s punt went 72 yards and in 2016 he recorded his best season when he averaged 48.6 yards per punt (44.2 net).

In 2016, Martin’s contract with the Lions was extended for another four years, and the following year, he became a Pro Bowler.

In 2020, the Denver Broncos signed him into a three year deal worth $7.05 million; and in 2022, the Broncos lost him to the Buffalo Bills over a one-year deal.
