Rale Rasic has been reported dead at the age of 87. No cause of death was announced, some sources, claim that he was severely sick weeks prior to his death.

“We’ve lost an icon. I didn’t want to believe the updates for the past few days that the great man could leave us. He blessed so many of us with his stories, humor, and wit. The godfather of Australian football and an icon of Australian sport, RIP Rale Rasic,” Adrian Arciuli.

He was an Australian football coach who was the first coach to take the Australian national football team to the World Cup finals.

Rasic was appointed the head coach of the Australian national soccer team at the age of 34 in 1970. Four years later, he coached the Australian national team to the World Cup.
He was inducted into the Sports Australian Hall of Fame in 1989, and in 2001, he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal and the Centenary Medal for “service for soccer.” In 2004, he was also awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for “service to soccer as a player, coach, and administrator.”
