Michael Fassbender has not been completely absent from public life and appeared in the little-seen X-Men: Dark Phoenix film in 2019, reprising his role of Magneto.

Michael Fassbender has been pursuing a second career as a racing driver for Porsche, amongst others, since 2016. Fassbender began competing in auto racing in 2017 with the Ferrari Challenge. As of 2023, he races in the European Le Mans Series, driving for Proton Competition.

Michael Fassbender made his feature film debut in 300 and gained mainstream success as the Marvel Comics supervillain Magneto in the X-Men franchise. He attended Fossa National School near Killarney and St. Brendan’s College in Killarney itself.
Michael Fassbender had his first screen role in Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s award-winning television miniseries Band of Brothers (2001). Fassbender played Jonathan Harker in a ten-part radio serialization of Dracula produced by BBC Northern Ireland.
In 2006, Michael Fassbender played a young Spartan warrior called Stelios in 300, a fantasy action film directed by Zack Snyder. The film was his feature film debut.
