Turkish national, Mehmet Özyürek who held the Guinness World Record for the largest nose on a living person has died. According to reports, he died on Thursday, May 18, 2023, after suffering from a heart attack. He was 73 years old.

“I have such a special feature. It’s a genetic condition as far as I understand. There was no explanation by the doctors, but I have it in my family, so my father has it, my uncles have it, and I have it. My friends used to call me Big Nose to upset me. But I took a look at myself. That’s when I looked in the mirror – I discovered myself,” he said during an interview with Guinness World Records.

He held the record for having the world’s longest nose. His nose measured 8.8 centimeters (3.5 inches) when it was measured on March 18, 2010. It was measured again in 2020 and 2021, where a change was undetected, disproving the myth that a person’s nose and ears continue to grow with age.
