Maurice Edu officially confirmed his long-awaited retirement at the age of 32 after an extended spell away from the game due to injury and free agency. Edu narrowly missed out on the 2014 World Cup roster.

Maurice Edu currently commentates for MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, as well as Fox Sports’ coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

During his first professional season, Maurice Edu made twenty-five appearances in MLS and scored four goals. He ended his debut season by winning the MLS Rookie of the Year award and earning his first senior national team cap.

Maurice Edu made his debut for Scottish Premier League team Rangers in a league match against Kilmarnock on September 13, 2008. Edu scored his first goal for Rangers on April 8, 2009, in a league match against St Mirren.
Maurice Edu made his international debut for the United States against Switzerland on October 17, 2007. He won his second cap a month later against South Africa, where he registered an assist on Steve Cherundolo’s winning goal.
