On July 26, 2002, only a week or two before signing a record contract with Universal South Records, Matthew West had an injury to his left arm which jeopardized his musical career and guitar playing.

Matthew West’s third studio album, Something to Say, also enjoyed chart success with No. 1 hits “You Are Everything” and “The Motions”.
In 2013, Matthew West’s second single, “Hello, My Name Is”, from the album Into the Light, was released and reached No. 1 for a career-best 17 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Christian Songs.

Before becoming an award-winning CCM star, Matthew West began his professional career penning hits for other artists including Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, and Point of Grace.
Matthew West has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, won an American Music Award, a Billboard Music Award, and a K-LOVE Fan Award. He was also named Billboard’s Hot Christian Songwriter of the Year.
Matthew West is a multiple ASCAP Christian Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year winner and a 2018 Dove Award Songwriter of the Year (Artist) recipient.
