This health challenge spurred Hoppus to reconcile with fellow Blink-182 co-founder Tom DeLonge. This reconciliation ultimately led to the reunion of the iconic lineup of the band alongside Travis Barker. However, the journey wasn’t easy for the “All The Small Things” singer. Post-treatment, Hoppus found himself retraining his voice and relearning the bass.

Speaking to Zane Lowe, Hoppus expressed, “I felt so drained, both mentally and physically, after all the chemo and pain. When I returned to the studio, it was like starting from scratch – from relearning the bass to managing the impact of chemotherapy on my vocal cords.” He added that he had to work intensively with a vocal coach to rehabilitate his voice.
Reflecting on his recovery, the “Miss You” artist noted, “There was so much I had to rebuild, but it led to us performing at Coachella, which turned out to be one of the most memorable shows of our career. And this new album, which, fingers crossed, might be one of our best yet.”
