Mahsa Amini was a 22-year-old woman, was stopped and detained by Iran’s morality police in Tehran on Tuesday, September 13 2022, for wearing a hijab that did not meet the government’s mandatory Hijab standards.

According to the police report, she suffered from heart failure and died after two days in a coma.
However, additional evidence indicates that her head was repeatedly smashed into a police car with a stick.
Some believe her coma, brain death, and death were caused by these violent acts, which became a symbol of violence against women under the Islamic Republic.
According to the semi-official news agency Fars News, Iranian police called Mahsa Amini’s death a “unfortunate incident” and denied that she was physically harmed in custody.

CCTV footage released by Iran’s state media appeared to show her collapsing at a “re-education” center where the morality police had taken her to receive “guidance” on her attire.
“The incident was unfortunate for us, and we hope to never see such incidents again,” said Greater Tehran Police Commander Hossein Rahimi during a press conference on Monday.
Rahimi claimed that “false accusations” were leveled against Iranian police and that Amini was not physically harmed during or after her arrest. He went on to say that the cops had “done everything” to keep her alive.
