During an interview, he once shared the ordeal he had to go through during his dialysis and due to how hectic it was, he personally asked to be taken off it and live his life normally.
“I would finish the day of filming around six o’clock and go to dialysis. Finish about midnight, go to sleep at about one o’clock, get up again at about five o’clock the next morning, and back to filming. But I was very a very happy man doing that,” he shared.

Before that, he spoke about the diagnosis and explained that he was very surprised when he was diagnosed with the disease.
“I never thought end-stage renal failure would have anything to do with me. I certainly didn’t have a diet full of sugar. I exercised. I had a healthy diet, I was stunned, here I am. Inevitably, I started to think about how this would affect the making of a film that I had been wanting to make for seven years,” he said.
