Ian Cockbain, an English cricketer born in Bootle, Lancashire has died. He was born on 19 April 1958 and died 2 September 2022 at age 64.

What happened to Ian Cockbain? How did Ian Cockbain die? Circumstances surrounding Cockbain’s death have not yet been released to the public.

Ian made his highest score of 98 in the game at Southport against Warwickshire in 1982 where Lancashire famously overturned a huge score by the visitors to win by ten wickets.

Between 1985 and 2001, he played 193 games for Cheshire in Minor Counties cricket, captaining the side from 1991 to 2001, and 14 times for the Minor Counties representative team in one-day competitions.

At Bootle C.C., Ian played with distinction for thirty years, captaining the team to great success before retiring in 2008 at the age of 50.

Six years later he came out of retirement to revive the fortunes of Formby C.C. whom he skippered to the Division One championship and promotion in 2014.

On the last day of the 2014 season, Formby were proclaimed champions, winning the division by twenty points and thus fulfilling the club’s dream for 2015.
