In 2002, two ten-year olds, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, were lured into the home of Ian Kevin Huntley, who murdered them via asphyxiation.

His girlfriend, and class teacher of the girls, Maxine Carr, had aided and abetted the crime.

The bodies of the girls were later discovered in an irrigation ditch in Suffolk, on 17 August 2002.

The incident was termed The Soham murders because the crime was committed at Soham, Cambridgeshire, England on 4 August 2002.

Carr eventually served 21 months of a 42 month prison sentence. She was released in 2004.

Huntley was sentenced to life imprisonment on two counts of murder, with a minimum term of 40 years.

Huntley had murdered Holly and Jessica via asphyxiation and had dumped their bodies in a ditch.

The girls had gone missing during a BBQ in Soham, Cambridgeshire on August 4, 2002.

Maxine Carr, who was a teaching assistant at the school of Holly and Jessica, was involved in the search, together with her boyfriend, Ian Huntley. But little did anyone know that the duo were the perpetrators.

Huntley was a man with a history of sexually assaulting underaged girls. He had been cohabiting with Maxine at the time of the incident.
