Legendary music icon, Gordon Lightfoot has been reported dead at the age of 84.

According to the family’s spokesperson, Victoria Lord, the Canadian songwriter died of natural causes at exactly 7:30 p.m. at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.
Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences in a social media post after Lightfoot’s death was announced.

“Gordon Lightfoot captured our country’s spirit in his music – and in doing so, he helped shape Canada’s soundscape. May his music continue to inspire future generations, and may his legacy live on forever,” he wrote.

Lightfoot canceled a few of his shows in April 2023 due to health-related issues. He released an official statement regarding that.
“Official Statement from Gordon Lightfoot For Immediate Release – Toronto, ON April 11, 2023. Gordon Lightfoot announces the cancellation of his U.S. and Canadian concert scheduled for 2023. The singer is currently experiencing some health-related issues and is unable to confirm scheduled dates at this time. We thank you for respecting his privacy as he continues to focus on his recovery,” the statement read.
